NIT-C workshop for new entrepreneurs

KOZHIKODE, JAN. 6. The Technology Business Incubator (TBI), National Institute of Technology-Calicut (NIT-C), will organise a one-day workshop on `Growth options and financial options for new entrepreneurs' on January 10.

Pankaj Khandelwal, consultant in the areas of technology commercialisation, technology diagnostics, entrepreneur development, technology research and expert databases, will be the main speaker. Mr. Khandelwal is also associated with the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata, Mr. Khandelwal has worked with McKinsey, international consulting firm, for a few years.

Registration fee

All aspects of managing a technology-based enterprise will be covered in the workshop. A registration fee of Rs. 100 per participant will be charged. Those interested should contact phone numbers 2286604, 2286605 or should reach the Training, Placement and Linkage Department of NITC at 9 a.m. on January 10.

The TBI of NIT-C was set up on March 18, 2004, with the support of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The TBI of NIT-C concentrates on new Information Technology (IT), electronics and IT-enabled industries and provides them with the necessary facilities to grow into sustainable ventures.

At present, there are five units working in the TBI and a few more are expected to join soon. The TBI provides all infrastructure facilities such as furnished office space, systems and other equipments, communication facilities, and Internet connectivity at a concession. Apart from the technical and managerial assistance provided by NIT-C, organisations such as Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, DOEACC Centre, Kozhikode, Technopark, Kerala Venture Capital Fund and TiE Kerala Chapter also provide assistance to the units.
