UPA panel eyewash: BJP
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD,
JAN.6.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has dubbed the constitution of a three-member committee by the United Progressive Alliance on Telangana as " another scene" in the drama being enacted by the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the BJP leaders -- S.V. Seshagiri Rao and K.Laxman -- said that there was no clarity on the purpose of the committee and asked what it would decide.
They described the committee as nothing more than an "eyewash" and accused the Congress and the TRS of misleading the people on the issue of statehood to Telangana.
Briefing on the deliberations of the BJP State office-bearers meeting, they said it had mainly discussed the farmers' suicides and found fault with the Government for failing to arrest them. They said the cabinet did not even have a token discussion on the Jayati Ghosh Commission's recommendations exposing its lack of sincerity in solving farmers' problems.
Workshop
The meeting decided to organise a workshop on ryots problems here on January 17, which would be inaugurated by the former BJP president, M. Venkaiah Naidu.
