High-level panel on new varsities set up

HYDERABAD,
JAN. 6.
The Government has constituted a high-power committee to examine the issues connected with the establishment of State, private and deemed universities.
The Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education, K. C. Reddy, will head the seven-member committee. The other members are the State Planning Board Vice-Chairman, D. Swaminathan, the retired High Court judge, A. Gopal Rao, the former Chairman of APSCHE, C. Subba Rao, the Director, Consortium of Educational Communications, G. D. Sharma, the former Rector of Andhra University, A. Prasanna Kumar, and the former Director, NAAC, A. Gnanam.
The committee will also suggest guidelines, evolve procedures and appropriate regulatory mechanism.
