Need for special aid, says Central team
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
JAN. 6.
The inter-Ministerial Central team, which visited the tsunami-hit areas of the State, has said that consideration of any assistance should be beyond the existing guidelines of the Calamity Relief Fund.
The 13-member team, led by the Secretary, Border Management in the Union Home Ministry, A. K. Rastogi, toured Nellore, Prakasam, Krishna and West Godavari districts on January 4 and 5 before reaching Hyderabad today. The team called on the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, at the Secretariat later.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Mr. Rastogi and Rajiv Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, said they would submit their report to the Centre in two days. They said looking at the suddenness of the devastation, the rehabilitation and relief required special treatment.
