Vyas Samman for `Kathgulab'
The award, carrying an amount of Rs. 2.50 lakhs, is given to an outstanding literary work in Hindi authored by an Indian citizen and published during the last ten years. The Kolkata-born author's novel, translated into English under the title `Country of Goodbyes', was chosen for the 14th Vyas Samman by a selection committee headed by eminent Hindi litterateur Satya Prakash Mishra, a release from the Foundation said. The earlier winners of the award include Dharamvir Bharati, Kunwar Narayan, Srilal Shukla and Giriraj Kishore.
Art exhibition opened
Being held for the first time in the Capital, the highlight of the "The Society Collection" is its handpicked crafts like Bastar tribal handicrafts, pottery, paintings and hand embroidered and woven saris made by artists and craftsmen from Bastar, Jaipur, Lucknow, Agra, Kutch and Bhilai.
