England under-19 team to tour India

KOLKATA, JAN. 6. A 14-member England under-19 team will undertake a month-long tour of India from January 11 during which the team will play three Tests and five One-Day Internationals.

The England team will be captained by wicketkeeper Steven Devies of Worcestershire. The visiting team will begin the tour with two, two-day practice matches in Bangalore from January 14 to 18 before playing the first Test at the same venue from January 21 to 24. Kolkata will host the second and Jamshedpur the third.

The first two ODIs will be at Agartala on February 8 and 9 followed by two at Guwahati and the final one at Siliguri.

The India under-19 team for the three Tests will be selected on January 12.

The England squad: Steven Devies (capt., wk), Moeen Ali, Joseph Denly, William Gifford, David Griffiths, Mitchell Stokes, Ben Harmison, Adam Harrison, Michael O'Shea, Mark Lawson, Andrew Miller, Steven Mullaney, John Simpson and Thomas Smith. Coach: Andy Pick; Manager: John Abrahams; Physio: Nigel Kent.

The itinerary: Jan. 14 & 15, 17 & 18 — practice matches at Bangalore; Jan. 21-24 — First Test at Bangalore; Jan. 27-30 — Second Test at Kolkata; Feb. 2-5 — Third Test at Jamshedpur; Feb. 8 & 9 — First two ODIs at Agartala; Feb. 11 & 12 — Third and fourth ODIs at Guwahati; Feb. 14 — Fifth ODI at Siliguri. — Our Special Correspondent
