Workshop on research methodology

KOZHIKODE, JAN. 5. The Post-Graduate Department of Economics, Government Arts and Science College, Meenchanda, will conduct a three-day workshop on `Research Methodology' at the college seminar hall from January 10.

The seminar has been designed to benefit teaching at the post-graduate level and also the preparation of Ph.D. thesis, dissertation and projects in economics. It has been sponsored by the Directorate of Collegiate Education, Thiruvananthapuram.

The college principal, K. Nanu, and the convenor, K.M. George, told mediapersons here on Wednesday that the technical sessions would be handled by V.K. Padmanaban, director, Centre for South-East Asian Studies, University of Madras, K. Sham Bhat of Pondicherry University and C. Sivapragasam of Gandhigram Rural Institute, among others.

History seminar

The Post-Graduate Department of History would organise a seminar on `Interventions in Indian Historiography' on January 12 and 13. Academicians of national and international repute will deliver lectures at the seminar.

The Head of the Post-Graduate Department of Hindi and Research Centre, Pavoor Sasheendran, said a seminar on `Contemporary Hindi short stories and women writers' would be held on January 13 and 14. Noted Hindi writers will participate in the seminar.

The Department of Commerce would organise a seminar on banking sector on January 14.

A seminar `ENHARDS - 05' would be organised jointly by the departments of Botany, Chemistry and Zoology on January 11 and 12. The seminar would explore the extent to which human beings have damaged the environment. Issues such as primary cause of air, water and soil pollution, importance of wetlands would be discussed.
