MANGALORE, JAN. 6. Bantara Yane Nadavara Mathru Sangha, in association with K.S. Hegde Medical College, Deralakatte, A.J. Hospital and A.B. Shetty Memorial Dental College, Mangalore, is organising free medical, surgery and dental check-up camps here on Sunday. They will be held at the three hospitals between 8.30 a.m. and 2 p.m. K. Ajit Kumar Rai, president of the sangha, told presspersons here today that the health cell of the Mangalore City Corporation will hold an awareness programme on preventing the spread of malaria and the HIV infection at the camps. The facilities to be offered for free at the camps include blood grouping and testing, tests for diabetes, electro cardiogram and scanning. In addition, ophthalmologists will be present at the camp and the organisers have made provisions to provide spectacles free of cost to the needy. The camp is open to all, he said. Mr. Rai said the "Arogya Bhagya" scheme of the sangha will be inaugurated on the occasion. He disclosed that the sangha intends to collect funds to provide medical aid to the poor, who are in need of surgery and other costly medical interventions.
