VELLORE, JAN. 6. Eight persons belonging to the same family Ambalavanan (50), a mason of Gudiyatham, his wife, son and five daughters were found dead in their house in Bhasaveswara Cross Street in Bhuvaneswaripettai in Gudiyatham on Thursday. Police sources said Ambalavanan was last seen by neighbours on December 31. Following the information that a bad smell emanated from his locked house on Thursday evening, the sub-inspector of the Gudiyatham police station broke it open to find the eight bodies in a decomposed state. The police suspect it to be a case of suicide. It is known that Ambalavanan was heavily in debt . Authorities from a local cooperative bank from where he had taken a loan had visited his house about a week back and had asked him to repay the overdue loan. It is suspected that unable to pay the debt, Ambalavanan had entered into a suicide pact with his family members.
