CHENNAI, JAN. 5. The Southern Railways is operating special trains during Pongal holidays. Train no 0613 Chennai Egmore-Tuticorin special will leave Egmore at 7 p.m. on January 11 and 13 and reach Tuticorin the next day at 8 a.m. In the return direction train no 0614 will leave Tuticorin at 8.30 p.m. on January 12 and 16 and arrive here at 9.30 a.m. the next day. It will run via Villupuram, Tiruchi, Madurai, Kovilpatti, and Vanchi Maniyachchi. Train no 0611 Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil special will leave Egmore at 11 p.m. on January 10 and 12 and reach Nagercoil at 1.30 p.m. the next day. In the return direction, train no 0612 will leave Nagercoil at 3.30 p.m. on January 11 and 13 and arrive here at 7.30 a.m. the next day. It will run via Villupuram, Tiruchi, Madurai, and Tirunelveli. Train no 0621 Chennai Central-Coimbatore special will leave Central at 8.45 p.m. on January 13 and reach Coimbatore at 5.20 a.m. the next day. In the return direction, train no 0622 will leave Coimbatore at 11.45 p.m. on January 16 and arrive here at 8.15 a.m. the next day. It will run via Katpadi, Salem, and Erode. Train no 0623 Chennai Central-Thiruvananthapuram special will leave Central at 4 p.m. on January 8, 10, and 12 to 16 and reach Thiruvananthapuram at 7 a.m. the next day. It will run via Katpadi, Salem, Podanur, Trichur, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Chengannur, and Quilon. Train no 0624 Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Egmore will leave Thiruvananthapuram at 10.45 a.m. on January 9,11, and 13 to 16 and arrive at Egmore at 4 a.m. the next day. It will run via Nagercoil, Tirunelveli, Madurai, Tiruchi, Villupuram and Chengalpattu. The special trains will have one AC two-tier, one AC three-tier, 10 sleeper class, three general second class and two luggage-cum-brake van coaches. Advance reservation for them will begin on January 6, according to a railway press release.
