COIMBATORE, JAN. 6 . In view of the ISKCON car festival scheduled for January 8, the city police have announced diversion in traffic that day from noon to 9 p.m. Parking of vehicles will not be allowed on the procession route i.e., Raja Street, Oppanakkara Street and Vysial Street and Karuppanna Gounder Street, a police press release said. Oppanakkara Street will be closed on the southern side at Old Ukkadam Police Station and the traffic bound for Coimbatore from Aathuppalam, Perur Bypass Road would be diverted via Vincent Road towards Lanka Corner and Goods Shed Road. Vincent Road would be made one-way during the traffic diversion. The National Highway Road would be one way from North to South and vehicles from Lanka Corner/Goods Shed Road would be diverted via NH Road towards Ukkadam. Telugu Brahmin Street would be closed at Mill Road - Telugu Brahmin Street Junction for all vehicular traffic. Vehicles to Chetty Street from Perur would be diverted through Perur Bypass Road and would go through Ukkadam Old Police Station Junction and proceed via Vincent Road. All the lanes joining Oppanakkara Street would be closed at the junction. Similarly, the Raja Street - Sullivan Street Junction would also be closed. Lorry traffic would be diverted at Ramanathapuram Junction, Lanka Corner via Railway Station and via North Coimbatore Flyover on Mettupalayam Road.
