BANGALORE, JAN. 6. Water supply to the city will continue to be affected for the next two days. According to officials at the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), the city will get less than its quota of 860 million litres a day till the power situation stabilises. "The situation is improving," a senior official said. The board had earlier said that water supply would be affected in the east, north and central parts of the city because it had not been able to pump enough water. "We, however, managed to ensure that consumers were not put to hardship," the official said. Bangalore uses up 1.1 thousand million cubic feet of water every month. This is set to rise in the summer months. Asked if the board would launch any conservation programme over the next couple of weeks, the official said there was no such plan. The board had, last year, organised one such programme. "Now people know the importance of saving water. Besides, we have enough water for the summer months," he added.
