camp

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 6. The Department of Indian Systems of Medicine organised a free Siddha-Ayurveda medical camp at the Government Siddha Hospital in Vallakkadavu on Thursday. Three hundred people were provided free medicines at the camp held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Aid for cancer patients

An amount of Rs.1.5 lakh collected by students of St. Thomas School for deprived children undergoing treatment at the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) was handed over to the centre director today. Children of the school today visited the centre to enquire about the health of the children undergoing treatment and about their financial difficulties, according to an RCC release.

Telephone exchange

Telephone numbers starting with 241 that come under BSNL's Karyavattom exchange will be switched over to the modern switching system from 4 p.m. on January 7. There will be no change in the telephone numbers, trunk booking and other special services, a release from the BSNL said. Journalist dead

Noted writer and journalist, K. S. Chandran, died of cardiac arrest at a private hospital in the city today. He was 75. Mr. Chandran was the founder editor of Kerala Sabdhom and has authored several books. He is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.
