`Forced to consume pesticide'
HYDERABAD: The Principal Secretary for Municipal Administration, S.R. Rao, believes he consumed pesticide on Thursday.
The `revelation' came during the inauguration of the annual convention of the Indian Water Works Association. Mr. Rao, who took a sip of the bottled drinking water of a popular cola manufacturer placed on the dais before his speech, told the audience later that he was thirsty and was "forced to consume pesticide". Even as the audience sat transfixed, not knowing how to react, Mr. Rao, the man who transformed Gujarat's Surat and received Padmashree for the same, said it was "not right" to make people drink `bottled pesticide' when the HMWSSB water was "pure and safe".
