Woman murdered

A woman, aged 20, was found murdered near roadside bushes on the outskirts of Balajinagar in Kushaiguda police station area on Thursday. Injuries on the body suggest that her throat was slit open, the Kushaiguda Sub-Inspector, Ravichandan Reddy, said.

Theft in buses

Three thefts were committed in RTC buses at different places on Wednesday. A sum of Rs. 88,946 was stolen from three employees of a private firm while they were travelling on route no. 156/299 at Chaderghat. A resident of Vinayaknagar colony in Saidabad, G.V. Satyanarayana, lost Rs. 2,000 in a RTC bus at Chaderghat. Yadaiah of Srinagar Colony boarded a bus at Khairatabad. He alighted at Vidyanagar and found that Rs. 19,000 was stolen from his pocket.

Relieved of jewellery

Unidentified persons relieved two women of their jewellery after diverting their attention at Karkhana and Chikkadpally on Wednesday.

A resident of Gruhalaxmi Colony, S. Meenakshi (66), was returning home from morning walk when two youths told her that a woman was stabbed a few days ago and her jewellery stolen. They advised her to remove the ornaments she was wearing. When she obliged, they packed the same in a paper and returned. On reaching home she found stones inside the packet.

Similarly, a housewife, Laxmi Parvathi, was relieved of her ornaments near the Hanuman temple in New Bakaram of Gandhinagar.

Two unidentified persons, posing as jewellery polishers, took away gold ornaments weighing 16 tolas from two women -- Laxmi and her sister, Uma Rani, -- of Domalguda after diverting their attention at Chikkadpally on Wednesday.

History-sheeter nabed

A tip-off by a traffic police constable, Janardhan Reddy, helped the Charminar police arrest a history-sheeter in their jurisdiction, B. Kesavulu, on Thursday.

Held with fake passport

A resident of Patelnagar near Gandhibhavan, Noor Ali, was arrested by the Hyderabad Police Task Force (South) on the charge of possessing a passport with fictitious name. The accused also had a genuine passport in his name, which he secured in 1996 from the Hyderabad Regional Passport Office.

Financers arrested

The crackdown on private financers resorting to forcible collection of high rate of interest continued on Thursday with the South Zone police of Hyderabad arresting two more such financiers -- Mohsin of Mohammadnagar and Mohd. Ismail.
