Misty morning

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JAN. 6.JAN. 6.JAN. 6 The weatherman has forecast a misty morning on Friday. The minimum temperature would hover around 5 degrees Celsius.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Thursday were 20.2 degrees Celsius and 9.7 degrees Celsius respectively. At Palam, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded were 18.8 degrees Celsius and 4.9 degrees Celsius respectively.

As for the humidity, Safdarjung recorded a maximum of 95 per cent, while it was 97 per cent at Palam. The minimum humidity at the two places was 48 per cent and 50 per cent, respectively.

Body found from park

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JAN. 6.JAN. 6.JAN. 6 The body of a young woman, who was probably killed due to a head injury, was found under mysterious circumstances at Buddha Jayanti Park in New Delhi on Wednesday. The police suspect it to be a murder case.

The deceased has not been identified yet, but by her facial features she appears to be from a hilly region. Investigations so far have ruled out the possibility of a criminal assault on her. While a murder case has been registered, the police are trying to inquire from the park staff about the incident.

Carjackers held

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JAN. 6.JAN. 6.JAN. 6 Three young men, including a bouncer working with pubs and restaurants, who allegedly abducted a man in his own Maruti Alto at Delhi Cantonment and then fled with the vehicle after dumping him at a distance, were arrested by the Special Staff of the South-West Delhi police on Wednesday. The accused revealed that they stole the vehicle for joy rides with their girlfriends.

Sunil Pathak, son of a supervisor with an English daily, was going to the airport to pick up his brother on December 24 night when a man waived at him to stop near Sanjay T-Point on Palam Airport Road. As he stopped, the person asked from him about an address. In the meantime, two more persons appeared on the scene, hit Sunil on the face and then all the three forced their way inside the vehicle.

The accused forced Sunil to consume liquor and kept on beating him till he fell unconscious. The took away Rs. 1,100, his driving licence, mobile phone and fled from the scene after dumping him in Dwarka. After he gained consciousness, Sunil reported the matter to the police.

This Wednesday, Sub-Inspector Ravinder Tyagi of the Special Staff received a tip-off that two of the suspects in the case, Naveen Sehrawat and Amit Saxena, would come to Dwarka on a motorcycle. Subsequently, Sub-Inspector Raj Kumar and others laid a trap and arrested them and their accomplice, Rahul Giri.

Gang busted

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JAN. 6.JAN. 6.JAN. 6 A gang allegedly involved in auto-lifting has been busted by the North-East Delhi police. Three persons have been arrested in this connection and six stolen vehicles have been recovered from them.

According to the police, the accused -- identified as Udham Singh (34), Naresh Kumar (33) and Anil Kumar Sharma (40) -- were arrested on January 1. At their instance, the police recovered a Tata Sumo, four other cars and a motorcycle. The vehicles had been stolen from Naraina, Keshavpuram, Patel Nagar and Mansarovar Park.

Body found

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JAN. 6.JAN. 6.JAN. 6 The body of a security guard was found near a jhuggi cluster at Malviya Nagar in South Delhi today.

According to the police, the body of Umashankar Singh, a native of Bihar, was found near the Soaminagar jhuggies in Malviya Nagar this morning. There were stab wounds on his body. Umashankar used to work as a security guard for a Badarpur based security agency.

A case of murder has been registered at the Malviya Nagar police station and further investigations are on.
