By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI,
JAN. 7.
Continuing its downward trend, inflation fell to a six-month low of 6.39 per cent for the week ended December 25, mainly due to fall in prices of fuel, fruits and vegetables, edible oil and manufactured products.
The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) based inflation fell by 0.11 percentage point to 6.39 per cent from 6.50 per cent in the previous week.
But the general price level was still higher than 5.86 per cent a year ago.
The Wholesale Price Index fell by 0.2 percentage point to 188.2 due to decline in fuel and manufactured products' prices by 0.2 percentage point each although primary articles were costlier by 0.2 percentage point.
