WARANGAL, JAN. 7. The police on Friday arrested a member of the Naganna dalam of the Janashakti group, Botla Rajaiah alias Rakesh (30), while he was taking shelter at Kondarajupalli village of Mulugu Ghanpur. He was believed to have taken part in the exchange of fire with the police on Thursday at Jangupalli village in the mandal. The police seized a rifle and five live rounds from his possession. Meanwhile, the naxalite killed in the encounter was identified as V. Raji Reddy alias Ravinder. He belonged to Nagurlapalli village of Regonda mandal. According to the Mulug Assistant Superintendent of Police, Rajesh Kumar, police personnel who went ahead with search operations after the incident had found five kit bags belonging to Communist Party of United States of India (CPUSI) naxals in the forest in Mulugu Ghanpur mandal, who were also camping in the area. The police were continuing search operations to check movement of armed naxalites in villages abutting forest areas in agency mandals.

Our Hyderabad Staff Reporter adds: The CPI (ML) Janashakti demanded dismissal of the Warangal SP and the special party team members for their alleged involvement in the killing of Raji Reddy. It also demanded a judicial enquiry into the incident. Sagar, working committee member, in a statement, sought unconditional release of its arrested leader and return of the weapons seized by police through the monitoring committee. He wanted immediate end to the combing operations and fake encounters.
