Tirupati
By Our Staff Reporter
TIRUPATI, JAN. 7. Speakers at a training programme have advised entrepreneurs, who have achieved success in their domestic operations, to tread the new path called exports. The three-day programme on `Exports', conducted by the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) to present an overview on the expanding purview of business to entrepreneurs, was inaugurated by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam's Executive Officer, Ajeya Kallam, here on Friday. In his address, Mr. Kallam recalled India's reputation in offshore trade since time immemorial. "Before structural engineering was formalised as a science, India had proved its prowess in building architectural marvels in the form of temples,'' he said, adding that the special granite available here offered huge scope for exports. At the local level, the paintings, wooded art pieces and toys of Srikalahasti provided a good opportunity.
Potential in world trade
On the vast potential in store for the country in the international business arena, he hinted at the need to be competitive in terms of price and quality to keep pace with the rest of the world. The FAPCCI president, O.P. Goenka, encouraged the youngsters and established entrepreneurs to be competitive in global business. Exhorting Indian companies not to lose heart at the inroads being made by MNCs into their market, he advised them to go on the offensive and conquer the market abroad. "Quality will be the ultimate formula for competitive edge'', he concluded. Harshavardhan Reddy, president, TIME Business School, gave a presentation on identifying products, services, methodology, etc. vis-a-vis exports. The programme will conclude on January 9.
