SBMJC wins swimming title

BANGALORE, JAN. 7. Host Shree Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College (SBMJC) claimed the overall title in swimming (110 points) in the VIE all-India inter-collegiate sports meet here on Friday. St. Thomas College, Colombo finished second (87) followed by Loyola College, Chennai (65).

The results:

Basketball: S.B. Jain bt MVIT 34-29; TIBS bt Al-Ameen 47-40.

Cricket: Loyola, Chennai 207 for five (Anand 66 n.o., K. Rohit 57, Kupparaj 43) bt Vijya 140.

BHS 184 (Sandeep four for 25 ) bt MATS, Raipur 77.

St. Joseph's 248 bt St. Thomas, Sri Lanka 110 for eight.

Presidency 162 (Girish 62, Suresh six for 27) lost to A.M. Jain 180 for five (Suresh 50 n.o., Gopinath 42).

New College, Chennai 179 for nine bt D.B. Jain 124.

A.M. Jain 149 (Venkat four for 25) bt Mahajana 132 (Sunil Kumar 41).

Handball: V.V. Puram bt SBM Jain 23-19.

Tennis: Mahajana, Mysore bt S.B.M. Jain PUC 2-0.
