ADILABAD, JAN. 7. The Labour Minister, G. Vinod, on Friday gave a `piece of his mind' on their functioning to officials in Adilabad district. His three-minute `staccato rattling' at the District Review Committee (DRC) meeting on the dire need for officials to put `words into actions' came not only as a surprise to participants, but raised serious questions over the work culture in this district. The Minister was visibly irked by the stock replies of officials to points being raised by MLAs. For example, when asked about drinking water shortage in different constituencies, officials of the Rural Water Supply (RWS) Department kept asking for time to complete some schemes. After listening for about one hour to the `monotonous' replies, Mr. Vinod gave his sermon. "We have been conducting meetings for the last six months without any actual results. Every time you pass on the buck and at the end of day no work results." "We are not interested in your tales. We want work to be done. Do not give explanations. Put words into action. In case you cannot do work, tell us. We know how to extract work," he observed.
