Bus & Truck expo gets under way

HYDERABAD, JAN. 7. The Transport Minister, S. Santosh Reddy, inaugurated the three-day `Bus & Truck Expo 2005', at the Hitex Grounds here on Friday.

The event is being organised by Andhra Pradesh Expositions (APEX), the marketing arm of Hitex, and the Chennai-based Unitech Exhibitions. More than 30 firms -- from Eicher Motors to Mobility Solutions -- are displaying their products. The former is one of the leading manufacturers of light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles, while the latter manufactures bus components like seats, air suspension systems, and window frames.

Amaraja Batteries, a leader in Indian storage battery industry, too is there. Swaraj Mazda, which makes a wide range of buses and trucks, has displayed the Samrat payload Light Commercial Vehicle. SKF India has a range of bearings on display.

The Minister visited the stalls, accompanied by Mr. Unni Tharakan of Unitech and officials of Hitex and APEX.
