TAMBARAM, JAN. 7. Jewels and cash worth about Rs. 15,000 were stolen from the house of a retired employee at Lakshmi Nagar in Chromepet when the inmates were away. K.S. Raman, who retired from the Telephones department, had gone along with his wife to their son's house in Bangalore. On Wednesday morning, a neighbour noticed the door broken open and objects strewn around. Jewels weighing about five sovereigns and some cash were taken by culprits who broke open the almirah. Mr. Raman came to Chromepet on Thursday morning and appointed a watchman to guard his house, before returning to Bangalore.
