KOLKATA, JAN. 8. Farid Alam and Shivika Burman of Bengal clinched a double in the boys' and girls' sections winning the singles and doubles under-18 titles in the Sunfeast Championship series junior tennis tournament here on Saturday. Second-seeded Alam beat fifth seeded Statemate Samriddh Burman in straight sets before teaming up with Arpit Sharma to win the doubles. Shivika Burman too did well prevailing over a tentative second-seeded Gayatri Krishnan of Tamil Nadu in straight sets and then partnered Gayatri to win the doubles crown. In the under-14 section, Nandita Krishnan overwhelmed sixth-seeded Ridhima Borooah of Assam 6-0, 6-3. In the boys' section, seventh-seeded Ranveer Shrivastav, having won the talent series here last month, took his second title beating top-seeded Bibaswan Deb.
Singles: Boys under-18: Farid Alam bt Samriddh Burman 6-4, 6-3. Under-14: Ranveer Shrivastav bt Bibaswan Deb 6-3, 6-4.
Girls under-18: Shivika Burman bt Gayatri Krishnan (TN) 6-4, 7-5. Semifinals: Burman bt Nandita Krishnan 6-0, 6-3. Under-14: Nandita Krishnan bt Ridhima Borooah (Asm) 6-0, 6-3.
Doubles: Boys under-18: Farid Alam & Arpit Sharma bt Baibhav Das & Harshvardhan Thirani (Guj) 6/3, 6/2.
Girls under-18: Shivika Burman & Gayatri Krishnan (TN) bt 2-Danielle Jones & Treta Bhattacharyya 6-2, 6-2.
