By Our Staff Reporter
KURNOOL, JAN. 8. The Joint Collector, Ramsankar Naik, has asked the Mandal Revenue Officers to prepare the list of beneficiaries for land distribution on January 26. He said 4,000 acres would be distributed among 2,000 beneficiaries. Addressing a meeting of MROs here on Saturday, he 50 per cent of beneficiaries should belong to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and the remaining 50 per cent from backward class communities. He asked them to prepare the pattadar passbooks by January 20 after fitness of lands were cleared by the agriculture officials. The DRO, Laxmikantham, the Project Director, Velugu, Venkatrami Reddy and others were present.
Karmika Sangam plea
Meanwhile, the district secretary of Vyavasaya Karmika Sangam, Balahussain, has urged the Government to take steps for distribution of entire surplus land in the district. Talking to reporters here on Saturday, he said the district administration was planning to distribute only 4,000 acres while a large extent of land was available. The survey conducted in nine mandals by the organisation identified 13,950 acres while it could be several times more at the district-level. Mr. Balahussain asked the Government to take steps for clearing cases of surplus land so that more land could be given during the special drive. He alleged that most of the landlords had transferred the land on benami names to escape land ceiling provisions
