PRODDATUR (CUDDAPAH DT.), JAN. 8. Enlightening adolescent students on career opportunities and personality development was a laudable endeavour, the Minister for Home, K. Jana Reddy, said on Saturday. Addressing a `bhavishyat bata' (career guidance programme) at Proddatur, he said the police were striving to maintain law and order, curbing growing violence and disturbances and simultaneously inculcating confidence and awareness among students to choose their future goals. He lauded the district administration and police for donning the task. The Proddatur MLA, N. Varadarajulu Reddy, said that provision of jobs for all was an impossible task and education was not merely for securing jobs. Under the four-month-old programme, students were being guided on taking the right path, he said. The Mydukur MLA, D.L. Ravindra Reddy, lamented commercialisation of the health sector. Lauding `Amrutham', a health programme taken up by police department, he wanted camps to curb gastroenteritis.
