CHITTOOR, JAN. 8. Miscreants attempted to loot the State Bank ATM located at Greamspet on the early hours on Saturday, according to M. M. V. Satyanarayana, Branch Manager. He said the miscreants could not succeed in stealing the money, which was said to be around Rs. 12 lakhs, though they attempted to break the ATM. The matter was reported to the police and the bank's regional office at Tirupati. The miscreants had left behind a knife at the scene of offence. The finger print expert, Somasekhar Reddy, visited the spot. Meanwhile, transactions at the ATM had to be stopped and customers withdrew money from the regular bank.
