TDP's concern for Telangana lacks conviction: Congress

HYDERABAD, JAN. 8. The Congress Legislature Party has blamed the nine-year TDP rule for the backwardness of Telangana region while asking the Opposition to stop criticising the Government for everything.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, T. Jeevan Reddy, executive committee member of the CLP, M. Ravi, special representative of the State Government in New Delhi, and D. Vithal Rao, convenor of Andhra Pradesh MPs, said Telangana had been rendered backward by the TDP systematically.

They ridiculed the TDP leaders like T. Devender Goud, N. Janardhan Reddy and K. Srihari for never voicing protest against injustice meted out to the region but preferring to cry hoarse now that the region was being neglected.

There was a limit to hypocrisy, they said comparing the TD Government allocations to the projects in the region with the present allocations. The TDP's claims were mere eyewash with regard to projects like Devadula, Jurala, SLBC and Kalwakurti, they said.

YSR a visionary

The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's plan to link the Godavari and Krishna rivers was an excellent solution to the problems of the region, they said. The TDP had launched a vilification campaign against Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy as it was afraid of his popularity and was using all means to stall works, they said.
