BJP finalises candidates' list for Jharkhand

NEW DELHI. JAN. 8. The Central Election Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) met today and finalised the names of its candidates for elections to Jharkhand Assembly. Prominent among the 52 names released are the Chief Minister, Arjun Munda, and former Union Minister, Karia Munda.

The meeting was chaired by the party chief, L.K. Advani, and attended by the former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and senior leaders, Murli Manohar Joshi, M. Venkaiah Naidu, Jaswant Singh, Pramod Mahajan, Rajnath Singh, Arun Jetly, Sanjay Joshi, Sushma Swaraj, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Sushil Modi, Ananth Kumar, Arjun Munda, Kariya Munda and Babu Lal Marandi. Lalsa Singh, Kunti Singh, and Menka Sardar are the three women in the list.

The other prominent candidates include Som Marandi from Barhait, Morhril Murmu (Dmka), Sunil Soren (Jama), Sujeet Das (Deogar), Ashok Mandal (Nirsa), Koche Munda Torpa, and Gurcharan Nayak (Mohanpur).
