Verdict on BCCI row tomorrow

By Our Legal Correspondent

NEW DELHI, JAN. 8. The Supreme Court will give its verdict on Monday on a batch of petitions filed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and others against a Madras High Court order superseding the Board and appointing a retired judge of the apex court, S. Mohan, as interim administrator to its affairs.

Acting on a review petition from a Chennai-based Nethaji Cricket Club, the High Court had restrained the Board's newly-elected office-bearers from discharging their functions and appointed Justice Mohan.

Passing interim orders on these petitions, a Bench of Justice N. Santosh Hegde and Justice S.B. Sinha had stayed the High Court order.

It had also stayed the election/appointment of Jagmohan Dalmiya as the Patron-in-Chief of the BCCI until further orders. The Bench reserved its verdict on December 16 last.
