Double for Sanave
KOCHI,
JAN. 8.
National doubles star Kerala's Sanave Thomas won a double crown at the Indian Club-PWC Logistics Open badminton tournament in Bahrain on Friday night.
The Kochi Central Excise Inspector defeated his former doubles partner V. Diju (ONGC) 17-14, 15-11 and won the men's super singles title. Later, Sanave partnered Rupesh Kumar to bag the doubles crown.
The results (Indians unless stated): Men's super singles final: Sanave Thomas bt V. Diju 17-14, 15-11; Doubles: Rupesh Kumar/Sanave bt Jaseel P. Ismail/Diju 15-11, 14-17, 15-3. Semifinals: Rupesh/Sanave bt Jaison Xavier/Markose Bristow 15-9, 15-9; Jaseel/Diju w/o Ali Shah Hosseni/Ashfin Bozorgzadeh (Iran).
Mixed doubles: Rupesh Kumar/Jane Seby (Bahrain) bt Sanave/Alphonsa Jose (Bahrain) 15-9, 15-5.
