KHAMMAM, JAN 8. The district administration is gearing up for distribution of land in a big way as part of the State Government's move to assign one lakh acres in one go to the poor on January 26. The district was given a target of 4200 acres under the programme. The revenue machinery had already identified the land and completed marking as well. At the same time the administration has taken up an exercise to add another 3,000 acres to the distribution programme in the four revenue mandals. The Joint Collector, Ahmad Nadeem, said here on Saturday that the administration was keen on making at least 7,000 acres of land available for the distribution programme as against the target of 4,200 acres. He explained that the marking exercise was completed in respect of about half the land sought to be distributed under the programme in the district and the rest would be completed by January 11. In all 1,151 pattedar passbooks pertaining to 2,550 beneficiaries were ready.
