KOTHAPALLY (NIZAMABAD DT.), JAN. 8. The Minister for Minor Irrigation, A. Chandrasekhar, has said his department is planning to constitute a commission with experts from Irrigation, Forest and Revenue Departments to identify minor irrigation resources and make full use of them. Addressing a public meeting at Gattupodichina Vagu, 8 km from here on Friday he said the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, had accepted the proposal. The commission would advise the Government on how available minor irrigation resources could be effectively used. The department was allocated Rs. 600 crores in the current budget, which was an all-time record.
Budget hike sought
Mr. Chandrasekhar said he was making efforts to persuade the Chief Minister to increase the budget ten-fold to Rs. 6,000 crores. Reiterating that by the end of the tenure of this Government all projects would be constructed, he said a survey was underway on the existing water bodies and resources. The Zilla Parishad Chairman, Ganta Sadanandam, urged the Minister to take all steps to ensure the early completion of the anicut across the Gattupodichina Vagu.
