NEW DELHI, JAN. 8. Three women have been arrested by the North-West Delhi police for allegedly planning to forcibly push three minor girls into prostitution after luring them in the name of good jobs in metropolitan cities like Mumbai and Bangalore. The police have since rescued the girls. According to the police, the three women were arrested in a joint operation carried out by the Narela police and a non-government organisation, STOP, on Friday. The accused, identified as Akhtari, Raziya Sultana and Sultana Khatoon, were arrested when they were going in an autorickshaw along with the three minor girls near Bawana slum cluster. Police said the accused had told the parents of the rescued girls that they would be formally trained to become beauticians and then employed in beauty parlours in Mumbai and Bangalore. They had promised that the girls would get Rs. 3,000 as stipend during training and that they would be able to earn Rs. 6,000 a month once employed. However, the police said the accused had plans to push the girls into the prostitution in Mumbai and Bangalore and earn hefty commission. They added that these women targeted young girls from poor families.
