The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Saturday were 21.2 degrees Celsius and 7.7 degrees Celsius respectively. At Palam, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 20.8 degrees Celsius and 5.1 degrees Celsius respectively. As for the humidity, both Safdarjung and Palam recorded a maximum of 97 per cent. The minimum humidity at the two places was 44 per cent and 51 per cent, respectively.
Shop fire claims one
According to a fire department spokesperson, the fire broke out in the puncture repair shop of Ved Prakash in Nand Nagri around 2-30 a.m. At the time, Ved and his fellow worker, Kalwa, were sleeping in the shop. While Ved was charred to death, Kalwa was admitted to GTB Hospital with 35 per cent burn injuries. Preliminary investigations revealed that Ved had left the petromax burning apparently to keep the room warm. The petromax apparently fell down from the pedestal and came in contact with inflammable material that led to the fire.
Man opens fire
According to the police, the man reached a "paan" shop in a lane near Wazirabad flyover in Bhajanpura around 3 p.m. and asked the shopkeeper to make a particular variety of "paan". After the shopkeeper gave him the "paan", the man refused to pay for it. An argument ensued between the two and, in a fit of rage, the man pulled out a gun and fired in the air. As others present at the shop were shocked, the man himself escaped from the spot.
Aptitude test
Helping students to arrive at a perfect mix of career and matching skills, the aptitude tests will include self-assessment tools to assess strengths and weaknesses as well as an individual's ability to perform job-related tasks. Stating that by this January 4 as many as 2,667 candidates had appeared for NAT, a release issued by NIS Sparta said the programme channels a person's thought process to work on his ability to excel in what he is best suited for. After having achieved the required NAT score, the aspirants are trained to work on their core competencies. The training programme also builds and monitors each individual's performance enabling him to pursue their specific sector, it added.
