Good knock by Negi

KOLKATA, JAN. 8. Jamia Milia Islamia University scored 253 for nine in the stipulated 90 overs against host Calcutta University on the first day of the two-day final of all-India inter-university cricket played here on Saturday.

Saurabh Negi (93) top scored for Jamia Milia while Monojit Ghosh and Sujay Das shared six wickets for Calcutta.

Osmania University beat Mysore University by five wickets to annex the third spot in the play-off match.

Brief scores: Final: Jamia Milia Islamia 253 for nine in 90 overs (S. Negi 93; M. Ghosh three for 50, S. Das three for 72) vs Calcutta.

Third-position play-off: Mysore 208 in 59.4 overs lost to Osmania 211 for five in 69.2 overs (A. Singh 80, Md. Imtiaz 63 n.o.) by five wickets.
