Call for Hindu unity draws flak

By Our Staff Reporter

KOLLAM, JAN. 8. The call for Hindu unity given by the SNDP Yogam general secretary, Vellapally Natesan, has come in for flak from the Ezhava Mahajana Sabha.

At a press conference here on Friday, the president of the sabha, S. Suvarnakumar, said that history showed that only the Christian and Muslim communities in the State were sincere in helping the Ezhavas in the fight for their rights.

He alleged that while Sree Narayana Guru liberated the Ezhavas from the clutches of upper-caste Hindu fundamentalists, Mr. Natesan was engaged in making the members of the Ezhava community surrender to such fundamentalists.

Mr. Suvarnakumar said that the sabha along with the National Union of Backward Communities and other like-minded organisations would organise a mass movement against the concept of Hindu unity promoted by Mr. Natesan.
