Singh on song

KAPALUA (HAWAII), JAN. 8. Vijay Singh has quickly left everyone in his massive wake. By the end of the second round in the season-opening Mercedes Championships, he left them a little hope.

Singh played his first seven holes in 6 under to open a large lead on the Plantation Course at Kapalua, then settled down with a series of pars to finish with an 8-under 65 for a two-shot lead over Mike Weir on Friday. Despite the sluggish finish, the 41-year-old Fijian was halfway home to the tournament scoring record. — AP
