Bharathidasan regains title
PUDUKOTTAI,
JAN. 8.
Host Bharathidasan University regained the Charminar Trophy after a lapse of two years defeating Andhra University 29-20, 29-19 for its second win in the last match of the semifinal round robin league of the all-India inter-University (men) ball badminton tournament here on Saturday.
In another match, defending champion Madras beat Kakatiya 29-17, 29-26.
Bharathidasan, Madras and Andhra finished with two wins and a loss each and tied for top honours.
But Bharathidasan emerged winner on better games difference. Andhra was placed second and Madras third.
The results:
Semifinal league: Bharathidasan bt Andhra 29-20, 29-19; Madras bt Kakatiya 29-17, 29-26; Bharathidasan bt Kakatiya 29-13, 29-14; Andhra beat Madras 29-26, 29-11.
