KOZHIKODE, JAN. 8. The three-day Kozhikode Revenue District Higher Secondary Youth Festival will begin at the Kunnamangalam Higher Secondary School on January 10, District Information Officer, T. Velayudhan, programme convener, A.K. Abdul Hakim, general convener of the reception committee, P.K. Vasanthakumari, and the joint general convener, Joshi Antony, told mediapersons today. Stage competitions would be held at Markaz Higher Secondary School from 9 a.m. on January 10 and non-stage events from 9 a.m. on January 11 at the Kunnamangalam Higher Secondary School. T.K. Hamsa, MP of Manjeri, will formally inaugurate the event on January 1.
Cancelled
The organisers said some programmes including a procession had been cancelled in view of the tsunami disaster. Competitions in 82 events will be conducted at 11 venues. As many as 2,000 students from 85 schools in the district will participate in the festival. Free food will be arranged for teachers and participants. Akbar Kakkattil, writer, will distribute the prizes on January 13 at the valedictory function.
