By Our Staff Correspondent

Paintings being sold to collect funds for tsunami victims at the Chitrakalamandir School of Arts in Udupi on Saturday.

UDUPI, JAN. 8. Peter Lewis, artist, inaugurated an art exhibition-cum-sale organised by the Chitrakalamandir School of Arts here on Saturday. The proceeds of the exhibition will be contributed to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund to aid the rehabilitation of the tsunami victims. Over 250 paintings by 75 students and faculty members of the school are on sale. The exhibition will end on Monday.

Mr. Lewis said art should reach the common man. He lauded the efforts of the school in organising the exhibition and deciding to give the proceeds to the tsunami-ravaged States.

Ramesh Rao, artist, said art should aid social causes. He congratulated the school for holding the exhibition-cum-sale of paintings in aid of tsunami victims.

Vishweshwara Parkala, principal of the school, and Niranjan, correspondent, were present.
