KANCHEEPURAM, JAN. 8. The process of providing temporary dwellings to fishermen families, which lost their houses in the tsunami disaster, has commenced in Kancheepuram district. One hundred 102-sqft asbestos, cement-roofed houses, each worth Rs.8000, at Pudupattinam Kuppam, Oyyalikuppam, Paramankeni, Nemilikuppam and Pudukalpakkam will be constructed. The Handlooms Minister, V.Somasundaram, and the Collector, R.Venkatesan, inaugurated construction at Pudupattinam Kuppam and Oyyalikuppam today, according to a press release. Meanwhile, the Conjeevaram District Photographers and Video cameraman Association has handed over a demand draft worth Rs.10,000 to the Collector.
