Cloudy sky

CHENNAI, JAN. 8. The sky will be generally cloudy on Sunday and the minimum temperature will be around 21 degrees Celsius.

On Saturday, Nungambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 29.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 21.3. At Meenambakkam, the temperatures were 30.2 degrees and 21.0 degrees Celsius.

The humidity recorded at 8.30 p.m. was 71 per cent at Nungambakkam and 83 per cent at Meenambakkam.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended in Egmore and Mannady areas on Monday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work.

Japanese classes

Blood donation

The Lions Club of Keelkattalai conducted a blood donation camp at Printing Technology, Taramani, on Wednesday. More than 140 units of blood were collected at the camp.

Conference

The ninth all-India conference of Karuna Clubs was held recently at C.U.Shah Bhavan.

More than 500 activists including educationists, animal welfare activists and environmentalists attended the conference.

Awards, trophies and cash prizes worth Rs. 1 lakh were presented to 24 outstanding schools across the country.

R. Balasubramaniam, Secretary, Animal Welfare Board of India, C.V. Narasimhan, president, Vivekananda Educational Society, and Heerachand, former Member of Parliament, participated.
