Focus on villages: YSR
On passing out of university portals, the graduates dream of furthering their career in the U.S. and other foreign countries. "That's fine. But the fact that those in villages need your education and expertise should not be lost in the process," he said while stressing the need for giving an impetus to the rural economy and improving infrastructure in villages. The Chief Minister said his Government had initiated efforts to establish synergy between universities and industries and set up Jawahar Knowledge Centres towards this end. The Minister for Higher Education, P.Venkateswara Rao, lamented gradual decline in the standards of engineering colleges and blamed the earlier government for this. The Minister for Technical Education, N.Narasimha Reddy, said students from Telugu medium background were facing stress and they should be given special attention. The Osmania University incharge Vice-Chancellor, D. Ram Chandram, and the principal of University College of Engineering, R. Ramesh Reddy, participated in the celebrations.
