HYDERABAD, JAN. 8. The Lake Police saved a woman, who along with her three-year-old daughter, tried to commit suicide by jumping into Tank Bund on Saturday. Around 1 p.m., 28-year-old Swati was seen wandering near Rock Garden carrying her daughter, Bheula. Minutes later, she began walking into the murky water. Two Lake Police constables -- Venkat Rao and Suresh -- who were moving on a boat, spotted the woman and rushed to her rescue. They caught hold of the woman and dragged her to safety even as she tried to free herself from them. She was later counselled and sent back to Khammam. According to the Lake Police Sub-Inspector, K. Sridevi, Swati had come to the city five days ago from her native Manuguru village. "She appears to be mentally unstable. She says her husband is not taking care of her and is harassing her," the SI said.
