MADURAI, JAN. 8. Members of the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led by its president, S. Rethinavelu, paid homage to tsunami victims at a condolence meeting held here this evening. The members of the Karumbalai Vattara Kalanjiam too paid their respects to tsunami victims. They observed a two-minute silence.
DYFI in rescue operation
The Democratic Youth Federation of India has volunteered its services in rescuing and salvaging those affected by the tsunami in several coastal districts. A large number of DYFI members from various districts, including nearly 100 members from the city, are assisting the local authorities in Nagapattinam, Kanyakumari and Cuddalore districts.
