Girl dies of burns

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, JAN. 8. A nine-year-old girl, who was playing along with other children near a bonfire, suffered burns after some one poured kerosene on the flames, at Anepalya in Ashok Nagar police station limits on Saturday morning.

The girl later died at Victoria Hospital later.

The police gave the name of the victim as Sreedevi, daughter of Muniraju, a labourer.

Man found murdered

A 70-year-old man was found dead at Vinayak Nagar in Wilson Garden police station limits on Saturday.

The police gave the name of the victim as Venkateshappa. The victim's wife, Yallamma (54), saw him lying in a pool of blood when she returned home with her grandchildren from their school. She took Venkateshappa to a private hospital, where he was declared "brought dead," the police said.

In a complaint, she alleged that Murthy, one of her three sons, had bludgeoned Venkateshappa to death. Murthy, according to Yallamma, wanted one of the four houses owned by his father transferred in his name. But Venkateshappa had not agreed to it, she said.

The police are on the lookout for Murthy.
