Man murdered by administering cyanide

BANGALORE, JAN. 8. A case of a 33-year-old man being murdered by administering cyanide has come to light in Kengeri police station limits.

The body of Akbar, a painter, was found near the Kengeri tank on December 22. The police suspected that he had died folllowing an attack of epilepsy. However, the autopsy revealed that the death was because of cyanide consumption. According to the police, Shabbir (33) and his friend, who were working with Akbar for a contractor, could have administered cyanide to Akbar. The police are on the lookout for Shabbir and his friend.

Two die in accidents

A clerk at Ghousia hospital in Shivajinagar was killed when her two-wheeler was hit by a private bus near Navarang circle, Rajajinagar, on Saturday.

The police gave the name of the woman as Jayamma (38). The accident occurred while she was going for work, the police said. The police have arrested the driver of the bus, Rasheed Khan.

Murugan (19), a native of Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu, was killed when he was hit by a lorry while crossing the Yelahanka-Doddaballapur road in Hebbal Traffic police station limits on Friday night.

Suffers burns

A woman suffered serious burns when the stove she was using for cooking burst at her R.K. Block house in J.C. Nagar police station limits on Friday night. She has been admitted to Victoria Hospital. The police gave the name of the woman as Yellamma (35). Her condition is stated to be critical.

Found dead

Lalitha (24) was found dead at her H.B.R Layout house in Banaswadi police station limits on Friday night.

The police said that Lalitha committed suicide by hanging herself with a sari.

The reason for taking the extreme step was not known, they said.

CCB raids

The City Crime Branch police on Friday arrested 10 persons from a recreation club on K.G. Road on the charge of gambling and recovered Rs. 11,000 in cash.

The police gave the names of the accused as Hemanth (41), Rajanna (42), Kallesh (35), Shivakumar (24), Shiva (28), Sachin (27), Shivakumare Gowda (28), Kumar (21), Ravi (19), and Kiran (21).

The accused were playing a game called "skill games," the police said.

In another raid, the CCB police arrested three persons on the charge of gambling from near a lottery shop on Basaveshwara Nagar and recovered Rs. 8,290 in cash.

The police gave the names of the accused as Jayaramaiah (39), Manjunath (30), and Mehabub (43).

Two arrested

The Vivek Nagar police arrested two persons who had robbed K. Selvam, supervisor in a private company, of a debit card, Rs. 500 in cash and a wristwatch on Thursday.

The police gave the names of the accused as Arogyadas (18) and Prabhu (21), both from Vivek Nagar. The police recovered the stolen items and the vehicle used by the accused.

The police said that the accused waylaid Selvam near ESI Hospital in Victoria Layout and robbed him.

The accused later went to Mayabazaar slum in their moped.
