RANCHI, JAN. 9. The election process for the Jharkhand Assembly will begin tomorrow with the issuing of notification for the first phase of polling in 24 Naxal-dominated constituencies in seven districts on February 3 . The polling would be held in three phases to elect representatives to the 81-member Assembly, election to which is being held for the first time since the State's creation . The second and the third phase of polling will be held on February 15 and 23 respectively. Meanwhile, the Chief Election Commissioner, T. S. Krishnamurthy, accompanied by the Election Commissioners, is scheduled to arrive here on January 18 to oversee the poll preparations. The State Government has taken stringent security measures and is deploying all available forces, including some 120 para-military companies, to ensure peaceful polling. Choppers and para-troopers would be deployed in remote and hilly areas for round-the-clock surveillance during the polling days. Special anti-mine vehicles with equipment to detect landmines would also be deployed, official sources said.
