Bangladesh in driver's seat

CHITTAGONG (BANGLADESH), JAN. 9. Zimbabwean all-rounder Elton Chigumbura took a career-best five for 54, while captain Habibul Bashar hit a half-century on Sunday to give Bangladesh a commanding 380-run lead over Zimbabwe on the fourth day of the first Test.

Rafique was unbeaten at 14, when Bangladesh declared its second innings at 204 for nine after tea, backed by a hefty first innings total of 488.

Zimbabwe lost two early wickets for only two runs when it resumed its run chase, with paceman Tapash Baishya picking up opener Barney Rogers and Vusimuzi Sibanda without scoring.

But Zimbabwe's skipper Tatenda Taibu was pinning hopes on his middle-order batsmen to save the match.

Opener Stuart Matsikenyeri and Hamilton Masakadza added 40 runs for the third wicket before Haque bowled Matsikenyeri for 20.

Masakadza (26) and Brendan Taylor (0) were batting with Zimbabwe at 46 for three, when play was stopped for the day due to poor light. — AP
